This tool looks at the overall nutrition composition of a product to give a classification of its nutrition credentials.
Case study: Making Sofficini a healthier meal choice
We’re committed to continually improving our products nutritionally. It can be a challenge, particularly as we want to retain the product experience that our consumers desire.
Sofficini is one of our most popular products in Italy, and Tomato & Mozzarella Sofficini is our best selling variant. Making nutritional improvements to this product would have a huge impact on those who eat it.
We applied our Nutrient Profiling Tool to the Tomato & Mozzarella Sofficini product and identified that this product was in need of nutritional improvements. This was a significant technical challenge given that a reformulated product would need to deliver the exceptional product experience our consumers expect.
The key challenge was to retain the key attributes that people loved i.e. taste, texture and crispiness. After looking at various recipe changes, our R&D team successfully reduced the salt content.
Tomato and Mozzarella Sofficini is now confirmed by our Nutrient Profiling Tool to be a healthier meal choice. We are proud that this Italian favourite is now a healthier meal choice.
